The intimate, small setting with counter seating adds to the charm, evoking a strong Osaka-like atmosphere. Guests appreciate the freshness of ingredients and the variety of toppings available, along with accompanying dishes such as gyoza and yakisoba. Friendly and attentive staff enhance the overall experience. While the restaurant’s popularity leads to crowding and the absence of reservations requires early arrival, many find the value and taste well worth the wait. Overall, it is regarded as a highly recommended spot for genuine Japanese comfort food in Singapore.
Excellent okonomiyaki, freshly prepared right in front of you on the hot plate. Great value for money and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is small and very popular, so it’s best to come early—counter seats are the best experience. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the whole place feels like a little slice of Japan in Singapore. Highly recommended!
AJIYA OKONOMIYAKI: A Tale of Fate, Fermented Beans, and Flame-Grilled Disappointment Location: 104 Jalan Jurong Kecil – where hunger meets destiny. On a humble quest to seek nourishment among the sacred streets of Bukit Batok, I, a mere mortal with Google Maps as my katana, ventured forth to dine at one of the revered, star-kissed establishments. But alas! Fate, in her cruel elegance, laughed in my face. Booked. Every single one of them. Even the auntie at the corner stall shook her head. Just as hope faded like miso soup in a storm, a glow emerged down Jalan Jurong Kecil — not neon, but the warm, golden radiance of Ajiya Okonomiyaki, a dojo of Japanese comfort food. We approached with reverence, and miracle of miracles — we were accepted into their clan. Hiyashi Chuka — The Cool Samurai of Noodles A cold dish, yet it hit with the force of a thousand cherry blossoms. Slippery noodles hid beneath a robe of vegetables, ham, and fish roes arranged with the precision of origami masters. Refreshing. Balanced. Like a well-written haiku… "Cold, but not heartless. Crab stick whispers to my tongue— Summer slurps begin." Kimchi Hiyayakko — Tofu's Unexpected Glow-Up Behold, the tofu! A blank canvas now splashed with bold flavor! Surrounded by a sea of sesame sauce and topped with rebellious kimchi, this was no ordinary bean brick. It was reborn — like a quiet salaryman discovering salsa dancing. Spicy, nutty, daring. A union approved by the gods (and probably someone’s mother-in-law). Okonomiyaki — The Chosen One A culinary customization challenge! Choose your own adventure with three mighty ingredients! Ours: tako, bacon, and shitake mushroom light before our eyes by warriors of the hotplate. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside — like emotional damage served hot. My inner anime protagonist wept tears of bonito flakes. Century Egg Kani Tofu — The Deceptive Assassin Visually… it resembled something from a Pokémon Center fridge accident. But then — BAM! Flavor! The century egg and crab combo hit like a surprise boss fight. Strange. Slimy. Sublime. I doubted it at first. I was wrong. Forgive me, tofu-senpai. Final Verdict: Thanks for the memories.
Very nice Japanese food: Okonomiyaki, Gyoza, Yakisoba, Karage, and Potato Mentaiko. I had fun with my friends drawing a crying emoji () on the okonomiyaki with the mayonnaise sauce.
Great place to come try some genuine okonomiyaki with Japanese restaurant vibes. It’s a bit small and it gets crowded fast plus it doesn’t take reservations so pls do come early. If you sit at the counter the okonomiyaki is cooked in front of you and the staff will ask for your preferences. Ingredients and fresh and the taste is close to the ones we had in Osaka and you can choose up to 3 toppings for free or add on more for extra money. The sides were also good especially the pork gyoza and chicken karaage. Staff were also friendly and will explain the dishes to you and recommend suggestions as well.
Feel transported back into Osaka for these delicious jap style pancake cook in front of you ! Their other side dish was superb as well not mention the yaki soba we order for the night !!! Best ! I high recommend this place
The main dishes are Okokomiyaki! Must try! If u want u can DIY yourself too. Also the Chawanmushi has the best presentation lol
First timer trying this so I find the place quite cooling and the people there are nice, they'll accomodate as much to your requests. Like the Takoyaki options and how many pieces to be sliced to be shared. I enjoy their close interaction between chef and us, the customers! Needless to say, the food is good and flavourful based on the taste and dishes you want to be included!
Excellent okonomiyaki! They prepare the okonomiyaki in front of you, and you can order a mix of 3 ingredients to include in it (recommended: smoked duck, tobiko, pork belly). Their hiyashi chuka (cold ramen) was also a great appetiser to go with it! Another good recommendation for genuine Japanese pancakes.
